The Kinderguide is a free, independent directory and search tool that helps San Francisco families find the right preschool, daycare, or transitional kindergarten program for their child. We've compiled more than 200 schools across the city and made them searchable by neighborhood, monthly cost, days per week, hours, philosophy, language, and age range — the filters that actually matter when you're choosing. Every listing includes the practical details families need: enrollment status, tour requirements, application deadlines, deposit amounts, and waitlist notes, all in one place instead of scattered across a dozen school websites.

It's built for parents and caregivers who are deep in the SF admissions process and tired of patching together information from Facebook groups, spreadsheets, and word of mouth. Whether you're looking for an infant spot, a Spanish immersion program, or a part-time co-op in your neighborhood, the goal is the same: spend less time hunting and more time deciding.

The Kinderguide started as a shared spreadsheet in an SF mom group and outgrew the spreadsheet. It's built and maintained by an SF parent, with every school added by a parent who was looking for a spot themselves. We're not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any school listed here.
