Sandmann Family Day Care
4023 Cesar Chavez St, San Francisco 94131
Sandmann Family Day Care is a bilingual childcare program – German and English – located in the heart of Noe Valley. We provide loving and professional care for children between the ages of 15 to 48 months. Our bilingual program offers a play- and music-based nurturing environment for young children where they can explore and learn. Our inside space is large and we take children outside every day to our spacious and child-friendly garden.

What this means
Play-based means children learn through free and guided play — social skills, problem-solving, and early academics emerge through play rather than direct teaching. Mixed-age classrooms put older and younger children together, so kids learn from and teach each other.
This school teaches in German but isn't a full immersion program — German is woven in alongside English rather than being the main language of instruction.

- 4How do you handle the transition for children starting mid-year or moving up from a younger classroom?

- 6How do you handle discipline, conflict between children, and big feelings?
